Umbilical Cord Blood Collection (for stem cell harvest)
When a couple wish to store their baby's stem cells, a qualified Medical Practitioner, Midwife or Doctor has to make a collection of the umbilical cord blood at the time of birth.
The collection does not take any blood away from your baby. The blood is taken from the umbilical cord and placenta once they have been separated.
At Storks we are pleased to be able to assist new parents in harvesting these stem cells by offering an umbilical cord blood collection service.
To help guide you regarding the various companies that provide processing and preserving of the stem cells, we have included some links to their websites. We do not favour any one particular company to provide all the expertise and storage. It is entirely your own choice dependant on your own research and requirements.
Here are links to some of the companies:
Future Health Technologies.
Cells4Life.
Virgin Health Bank.
Our service provides you with a mobile telephone number thus ensuring access to a midwife. Your Storks Midwife is on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week from week 37 of your pregnancy until attendance is required.
It is most important to point out that we are not able to guarantee a successful collection. However we can assure you of our best endeavours and considerable experience to obtain the best collection possible.
The fee for attendance is £250 payable on booking (mileage may be charged if the you are having your baby at a location more than 20 miles from our base in Maidenhead).
