Frequently Asked Questions

On this page we attempt to answer the most common questions that prospective parents have when considering our services. We have been as comprehensive as possible but it is still quite possible that your question is not addressed. If that is the case please use the link on the left to contact us and we will respond directly.

How does Storks relate to maternity services from the NHS?
Storks offers a complementary service. We work with the NHS and not in place of it. All of our midwives have worked in the NHS for a great part of their careers and have the utmost respect for the professionals working there. However many people would prefer to have a higher frequency of appointment than the NHS can offer, or to have appointments at times that are more convenient to their work schedule than the NHS is geared up to provide. Storks is able to fulfill those needs.

Can a Storks midwife attend my delivery?
The very stringent requirements for insurance coverage that are in place in the UK mean that Storks is unable to offer to take the full responsibility for intra-partum care (care during delivery). However we can offer the services of a midwife-supporter who will attend your hospital delivery with you and provide continuity of care during your confinement. See the Birth Support page for more details.
